MEET THE ARTIST
I think it's just really the connection that we, as Aboriginal people, have for the land and our waterways, it's an intrinsic part of who we are. It's not something that you go to school to learn. It's just a natural feeling that we have. And to tell story of more local stories and knowledge, which is very important.
It's also a really good opportunity for people, while they're sitting and waiting for a tram, is to take pause and just imagine what it would have been like on that very street, or in that very area that many years ago, the land was very different. The stories of Land and Country are still the same. They're just hidden beneath the tram works and the concrete roads.
Simone Thomson identifies as a Wurundjeri and Yorta Yorta person.
